<\/p>\nWhen selecting a fluoropolymer lined pump, it is not just about the material. The type of molding process utilized to line your pump makes a huge difference in the quality of the lining which can be critical to the success of a pump in your application.<\/p>\n
The most widely used molding method for small pump parts is Injection Molding. It\u2019s an efficient low cost option that is well suited for these applications. However, for larger pump casings and parts utilized in corrosive or abrasive applications better molding methods are required.<\/p>\n
One of the options for larger ETFE lined pump casings and parts is Roto-Lining. This process involves charging ETFE powder into the fabricated metal pump casing or other part which is blind flanged and mounted onto a rotational molding machine. The machine rotates around two perpendicular axes inside an oven as the ETFE powder melts and begins to distribute over the interior surface of the casing, forming a thin lining of ETFE. Roto-Lining is a tricky process which requires precise temperature and time controls. Because the process is done under atmospheric pressure, roto molded linings can have significant variations in thickness, density and flatness. Fortunately, there is a significantly better option.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Texel Transfer Compression Molding (TTC) is a superior process that uses 1200 PSI pressure and a mold pattern to compress melted PFA into a liner on a pump part, such as the casing. The result is a liner with uniform thickness, flatness and low porosity which is smoother and much less permeable than liners achieved through either Injection Molding or Roto-Lining. This makes Texel Transfer Compression Molded (TTC) linings much better suited for abrasive and corrosive applications.<\/p>\n
